How we Started! What We do! 6 Months into the year!
First Call Funeral Support UK has been operating around the United Kingdom for just over 6 months, offering support to #FuneralDirectors, Families and their loved ones with anything from the initial call after a loved one has passed away, to helping the deceased with their final journey home. It is so rewarding to help people in their time of need, one of the most difficult, upsetting times for them and we are able to offer our support in a dignified, professional and caring manner.
Having previous experience within the funeral business, I have for many years wanted to get back into it but being mostly family run I was finding it difficult to find a position for myself. So December 2020 I had a discussion with my family about starting a #FuneralSupportService , the comments were mixed, unsure and there was a bit of scepticism, but basically told if you do not try you will never know. Over the next few days, I managed to get the funding in place, we sourced a vehicle (Our Ford Mondeo Private Ambulance) and managed to source the correct equipment we needed. It was my Birthday and we set off to England to collect our new vehicle, the next couple of days the equipment arrived by courier having been sent from Scotland, sorted out the insurances needed to operate and registered with the HMRC.
It was nearing Christmas Day and we decided to take a bit of time off but once the 2nd of January arrived when the Christmas period was over it was full steam ahead, we got the marketing material sorted and we were out meeting Funeral Directors around Wales and one afternoon we ended up unexpectedly in England!
Since the start of the year, we have not looked back, things started fitting into place, we have met some lovely people and been able to help the loved ones with part of their final journey.
So here is our short blog telling you a little bit about how the company came to exist, what we do and what we will continue to do in the future.
